Technical Support

Welcome to the Technical Support section of the site. This is the place to come to if you are experiencing difficulties with any of our games. If you just want game cheats, go to the 'Cheats' section - this section is only for those having trouble running one of our games.

Before e-mailing our technical support address with your problem, see if there is a solution to your problem in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list below.

'The Screen display is garbled/the colours look terrible'.

If you are running Windows in 16 Million colours (24-Bit colour) then this may occur. Simply change the number of colours down to 65,536 (16-Bit) or 256 (8-Bit).

This can also happen if you are running Windows '95 in 256 colours on some systems. Try changing the number of colours to 65,536 (16-Bit colour) by clicking the right mouse button on the Win '95 desktop, selecting 'Properties' and clicking on the 'Settings' tab.

Are you running Windows in 16 Colour mode? Our games need at least 256 colours and in some cases 32,000 colours. Running with only 16 will make our games look terrible - they will take ages to load, too.

'My joystick doesn't work'.

Under Windows 3.1, chances are that it won't. You need a special joystick driver for it to function.

If you are using Windows '95, make sure that you have Microsoft's DirectX installed (it is available from the Microsoft Web Site. Also check that your joystick has been calibrated in Windows Control Panel (accessed from the 'Start' Menu).

'My PC freezes shortly after the game has loaded/I don't get any sound out of my soundcard'.

Most of our games use stereo sound or Virtual Surround Stereo sound. If you only have a mono soundcard, then this problem may occur. To rectify the problem, simply press the 'Control' and 'S' keys together to turn the sound effects off when the game starts.

If you don't get any sound, make sure that your soundcard and its drivers are installed properly. If it is an old model, it may need to be upgraded to work with some of our games.

Make sure that the sound effects or music are not turned off in the 'Options' menu if you are not getting any sound. If the game crashes, switch them off again.

'The game is far too fast'.

'There is a big black border around the game area when the game is maximised'.

To fix these problems, you need a few patches. Get the required software from the Utilities section of the web site.

If you are using Windows 3.1 and there is a border around the game area, you need to lower the screen resolution of Windows to '640x480'. This can be done via the 'Control Panel'.
