The Oxford Street Stompers
started life as a "pick up" band to play weekly at a pub / wine bar called 25 Oxford Street in Southampton. The gig started off every Wednesday and continued on and off for two years ending up monthly on a Monday until May 1998 .
(It's been suggested that playing 4 gigs at 25 Oxford Street = 1 at 100 Oxford Street ! ! !)

The Oxford Street Stompers
have developed into a regular band and have performed many other gigs in the Southampton area, some public and some private under this and other names, often taking the venue name, (the band's the same only the name has been changed to protect the innocent!)

The Oxford Street Stompers
play a repertoire of early Jazz tunes by composers such as W.C. Handley, Spencer Williams, Clarence Williams, Joe "King" Oliver and many others. These all provide the basis for a good foot tapping or dancing evening.

If you would like to book a band playing similar music then Acoustic Jass is available
