Llwybr Llaethog

I first came across Llwybr Llaethog (meaning Milky Way in Welsh), at the BeyondTV party at the Monkey Café in Swansea, part of the BeyondTV International Film Festival 2006 organised by Undercurrents.

Llwybr Llaethog were the star attraction of the party, the top hip-hop band in Wales (or so I was told), and yes, they were good.

Two guys came on stage, dressed in white boiler suits, not a word spoken. I was strongly reminded of Tangerine Dream, only instead of techno-rock, what we had was a Welsh variant of hip-hop with a cross-over of reggae mixed in there somewhere.

Llwybr Llaethog performed for around two hours, maybe longer, and they were good.

My only regret was that my lovely friend Iva, who would have enjoyed the party even more than me, was not there too.

BeyondTV is an annual film festival held in Swansea on the south coast in Wales hosted by Undercurrents featuring the very best in activism and alternative culture.
