Friday 26th May

I'm writing this from Wantage, staying with Alan and June, on the first stage of the holiday. It already feels as though the holiday has begun, since we met up with Nick and Penny for a drink at the Royal Oak. On the way to inspect the sanitary facilities, I noticed that there was a bar-football table. After a couple of pints our skills weren't perhaps at their peak, but we had quite a hilarious few games before staggering off to the currently favourite Indian restaurant, the Jeera Cafe. Apparently it was previously known as 'The Flying Teapot'. In its present form it does a very fine curry, with a considerable selection available on the menu. We had a great evening and things got off to an excellent start.
