My first foray into self-publishing was in 1976 - the first-ever guide-book to the Callanish Stones, which sold 13,000 copies over a period of seven years. Since my return to my native county of Hampshire in 1984, I have published various local history books and guide books. Some of these have been for ‘mainstream’ publishers, but most have been self-published under my imprint of MILLERS DALE PUBLICATIONS, or by the partnership of CHARLEWOOD PRESS.
My Landmark Visitor's Guide to the New Forest was published by Landmark in 2000.
Callanish and other Megalithic Sites of the Outer Hebrides was published in 2002 by Wooden Books.
I co-wrote other books on Callanish while living on the Isle of Lewis in the 1980s.
Millers Dale Publications has a list of several local history books including those which I have co-written with Barbara Burbridge and with Barbara Hillier. Also my book on the flowers mentioned in Shakespeare’s works.
Anthony and Gerald have written other historical books which have been published by Phillimore and by European Library.
