"Morituri te Salutant !"
Errata page.
MTS is a living breathing set of rules, undergoing almost constant revision. Since publication we have continued to play test and modify. The play sheet enclosed with the rules is version 2 of the matrix. The matrix printed in the rule booklet is version 1. Play which one you wish; we favour version 2.
Another modification to try is to make the JAB vs. SLASH result a FL result as per V.1 of the matrix.
Since publication there have shown up a couple of errors in the printed rules. To date these are:-
ERROR. Provocator, Hoplomachus, and Retiarius character sheets.
Converted order for stand should be Parry, or Thrust.
Converted order for step should be Jab.
Converted order for rush should be jab.
ERROR. Laquearius and Sagittarius character sheets need a reclaim order added.
| Reclaim | Y |
Int 1 | Move EFG | Facing 2 | Attack - none | Convert Kick Jab | Prohibited - none |
ERROR. Sagittarius character sheet has a swing order prohibited in the side step move. Delete this.
ERROR. Velite and Diamachaerius initiative on 2nd wound should be 4 not +4.
ERROR. Diamachaerius needs a riposte order added to his character sheet.
| Riposte | Y |
Int 2 | Move - none | Facing 1 | Attack zone B | Convert Step Parry | Prohibited Slash Cut |
OPTIONAL RULES IDEAS.
From suggestions made by Tony Dodds:-
Fumbling the weapon etc. If a 1 on the d20 is rolled for damage then roll a d6 and compare to the table below.
1 |
Drops weapon into hex zones A B or C (determined randomly) Must be reclaimed to be used. Use reclaim order shown above. |
2 |
Slips footing. Loses initiative for next turn. |
3 |
Tangles himself up. Can only use stun moves next turn. |
4 |
Dust in eye. Initiative drops by one for rest of fight or until gladiator uses a stand order to wipe it out. |
5 |
Almost drops weapon. Loses initiative for next turn. |
6 |
Gladiator slips and falls to the ground. |
Another suggestion was to do with experience. Could a gladiator buy with his experience points a weapon class that is alien to his type ie. a Sagittarius buying a short sword skill (being allowed to cut Jab etc)
I would suggest that to aquire the following skills should cost the following. A basic skill means that all attempts to hit are at one level harder to hit, and difficults become misses. A competent skill level allows the gladiator to use the moves at their normal chance of a hit.
Skill |
Extra moves allowed. If not already on character sheet. |
Basic experience cost. |
Extra points to become competent. |
| Sword | Lunge Slash Cut | 15 |
