INTERNET SHARING (PAGE 1)
<Author = Blacklaw>
<Category = Setup Guide>

Okay, you've got your nice little home LAN sorted.  You've spent many a happy hour trashing your little brother at CounterStrike, and Worms World Party is loaded so often you're thinking of installing it as a system service.  However, you can't help but feel that there's something missing.  Then it hits you - why not share your luvverly broadband connection?  Not by buying one of those overpriced 'Cable/DSL Routers' that PC World keep touting, but by setting up your main computer as a simple server?  Now *that* has possibilities...

Sharing an internet connection isn't just for flash gets with broadband, either - anyone who doesn't fancy unplugging the modem from their main PC just so little Timmy can check his e-mail can benefit from a shared pipe.  It doesn't have to be expensive, either - the good news is that if you've followed my Home LAN Guide then you've already got all the hardware you'll ever need.  This guide will cover several software methods of sharing your connection between multiple users.  What it *won't* cover is:

  • Hardware Connection Sharing (Routers)
  • Microsoft Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
  • Sharing under Windows NT Server/Terminal Server

Okay, so - on with the guide...
