This flight could have been a lot longer. Airspace restrictions around Lyneham and Brize Norton forced my track where the thermals wern't. But having said that, if I'd I'd paid more attention the airmap before launching I'd have been able to track on a better course before the problem of restrictions came up. See picture of actual track compared to where I should have gone.
The green track is the actual path taken, and I was forced to turn left to prevent entering Lyneham CTA. The other restriction was Lyneham CTR which covers half of Swindon. Had I not stayed out of Fairfords MATZ, I could have followed the red track and maybe got to Swindon. There would have been good thermal sources over the town and who knows how much further I could have got.
This is the first time I've kicked myself for not planning ahead more.
