I am currently working on my dissertation on The conflict between conservation and contemporary worship in historic church buildings:
A look at Ecclesiastical Exemption in Scotland as the final part of an MSc in Architecture and Architectural Conservation
at Edinburgh College of Art.
Before coming here I worked for 15 months with Aslett Architects in Guernsey,
a very small practice with a high turnover of mainly small domestic jobs. This provided a good insight into the whole of the design
process, with some jobs going from initial survey to completed construction while I was there.
I am generally interested by traditional styles and construction methods. I am fascinated by the
geometry of classical and gothic architecture and like to try and create order in my designs. I also
like to aim for the apparent solidity and permanence of old buildings.
I am very interested in many aspects of computing. I have worked with a wide range of graphics,
modelling and rendering software including AutoCAD (2d and 3d), Blender, FormZ, Viz, Radiance, Photoshop,
CorelDRAW and The GIMP. I have also done programming in various languages.
I have many other interests including photography, music and accumulating 'useless' knowledge. I am a Christian and for a year was on the
committee of the Christian Union at Strathclyde, which included responsibility for leading a team.
