Of course The Pistols black cover was cool
in a way, but I rather preferred the Rich Kids red glossy one,
with their first single. This album is great and best of the lot is the
powerful title song. The wimp fighting back - with great style.
Swedish cover band Beagle eventually turned into power pop success, writing own material and recording for ABBAs legendary Polar label. Sounds like McCartney and XTC at the same time. They later made a follow up, but although it´s good too, it doesn´t come close to this one...
The Rubinoos - the soundtrack of my youth. Rock´n roll may be dead but power pop music will stay here forever.
The Rezillos - Scots with smirks and great tunes. Top of the Pops is still one of the great ones in my heart.
Greg Kihn - Again the Berserkely label. One of the best covers of a Buddy Holly song and a Bruce Springsteen song I´ve heard. And the guitar figure in "Politics" still make me smile.
10cc - Their first, best and foremost. Fun and great melodies. When I got it on CD some years ago, I found myself being able to sing the lyrics faultlessly - after more than 20 years!. And "The Dean and I" is maybe the best song written, ever.
