Okay, so . . . It's Amazon! However,
here is a list of 734 Power Pop discs all available on the e-com
behemoth. Wander through, take a listen. Show Amazon how popular
and cool Power Pop is and maybe they'll start stocking more at
better prices. Right? It can happen, right? Oh well, there may be some
bands in here you've never heard of and discovery is one of the best
parts of this music.
The
name pretty much covers all the bases, doesn't it? Here you'll find band
links, pictures, album sleeves, bios and more for bands that were around
between 1976 and 1985. Some really great information packed into
this seemingly modest site, including a wealth of mostly rare single
picture sleeves. It's just a blast to wander around and see what you
can find.
One
of the most interesting labels around, Bomp! is the home to such
bands as Beachwood Sparks and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. You' ll even
find a little Iggy Pop mixed in with some Barracudas. But
there's more! Bomp! has an amazing catalogue that goes back several
decades and contains some pretty amazing gems from the past. Plus, don't
miss the Bomp! Bookshelf, which is a rather exhaustive list of
music related books. Whew! I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
Yeah I know . . . it's MP3.com, that's true. But wander around
and take a listen to some of the bands that catch your eye. Sure, they're
small and you may have never heard of them, but they deserve a shot, don't
they? (A couple I found a year ago include Randell Kirsch, Michael
Angeloff, Moke and Les Zazous - I bought their CD's, they are all excellent

Don
Krider's Power Pop News Page Not sure why Don calls it a news page,
but he's done a fantastic job rounding up some pop discs and reviewing
them. Check out his huge tracts of land! I mean, his huge archives.
And on the seventh day God decided it was time to rock. (This is where
the heavenly choir is supposed to sing.) The home of THE U.S. Pop
festival (and England as a Liverpool festival was staged
for the first time in Octobe 2003). There's almost too much here to
list. Rosters from each year, articles, merchandise, links, band lists
and more and more and more! Definitely worth a look and, if you're in
the area, definitely a fest to visit.
