 Insignificance - Jim O'Rourke
While the CD cover would portend something rather strange and perverse, the music inside tends toward beautiful and honest pop songs. The only things off-kilter are his observations on modern relationships. Very highly recommended

Isolation Drills - Guided by Voices
Lo-Fi heroes GBV's 2001 release. Same eccentric "History of Rock and Roll" approach to song-writing, but with more refined and professional production values. Tremendous and infinitely replayable.

The Way of the Vaselines - The Vaselines
Scotland's Vaselines were more or less forgotten until Mr. Cobain declared them one of his favourite bands. Catchy and crunchy hooks coupled with cheeky lyrics.

Icky Mettle - Archers of Loaf
Noisy, Abrasive, and lyrically wilfully obscure, but definitely catchy as all hell.

The Mission Faucet - The Chantigs
Classic pop melodies sung with achingly high falsettos and not a single touch of irony. And guess what, there's no distortion. How did this album get in here?

On the Mouth - Superchunk
Punk-Pop before it became Blink 182-ized. Buzzsaw guitars, soaring choruses, pure pop hooks, and intelligent lyrics. One of my all time faves.
