Comments:
My choices are in no particular order:

Badfinger - Straight Up
This has always been one of my all time favorite albums and it is one of the best examples of the power pop sound. Most diehard fans already own this album or CD but I couldn't leave it off the list. My favorites are "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue".

Shoes - Present Tense
This album came out on a small independent label called Black Vinyl Records. It has the catchiest guitar riffs and such memorable melodies. My favorites include
"Tomorrow Night" and "Now and Then".

dBs - Repercussion
This is on my list because it stands on its own. Although the instrumentation is spare the hooks just grab you. I
first heard the dB's music on New York University's radio station WNYU in 1981. Favorites on the CD are "Neverland" and "Living a Lie"

Posies - Dear 23
When first hearing the song "Apology" I could have sworn it was a new Hollies song but I was wrong. The harmonies and melodies sound like they are from another era. Powerpop doesn't get any better than this CD. My favorites on this CD are "Apology" and "Suddenly Mary" For diehard fans their boxset which was released in 2000 and is worth hunting for despite the fact that it is sold out.

Jason Falkner - Can You Still Feel
Jason Falkner was a former member of the bands the Grays
and Jellyfish. Another must have for any powerpop collection. If you love Badfinger or the Raspberries this is one you can't pass by. I had this on my car CD player for a solid 4 months and never tired of it. standout track for me is Revelation.

Fountains of Wayne - Utopia Parkway
Combine witty lyrics with the well crafted melodies and you get the music of the Fountains of Wayne. Upon first listen you feel like you automatically know these songs. I may not be 16 anymore and the lyrics may not be pertinent to my life now but who cares. One can't resist any of these songs.
