PROGRAMME FOR 2010

Don't forget that ALL THURSDAYS not shown below are still terrific fun - we always have wonderful local musicians playing a variety of styles, songs and music

28th Jan ALTERNATIVE BURNS EVENING WITH BEER’S LAW
Due to reasons beyond their control the Crow Road Band was unable to present the traditional Burns evening in 2009, but excepting unforeseen circumstances, Jan Moncrieff, Phil McCready and Alan McLean will be with us this evening for a programme of Scottish music including, of course, material from Robbie Burns. Always a fun evening.
18th Feb CLUB SWAP with SOUTHAMPTON – the Return visit
In October a number of singers from the Windmill visited the Southampton club. Tonight, some of their most talented performers come to entertain us at the Windmill.
18th Mar ST PATRICK'S NIGHT with KELLYS AYE
For many years Felix and Kathy have presented a programme of Irish music on the Thursday closest to St Patrick’s evening. This year is no exception! There will be songs and tunes from the Emerald Isle and lots of chances to sing along. So join us for a great evening of music.
15th Apr WOOD, WIRE & WORD
It's good to welcome as our guests this evening, Pat on dobro, his daughter Clare on double bass and son-in-law David on guitar and lead vocals. Pat has played in bands with Gary Payne in the past. The present band has now been operating successfully for several years. As they have performed as floor singers at the Windmill on a number of occasions, we thought it was time our audiences had the chance to hear more of their music.
20th May BRAM TAYLOR
Bram has been our guest on a number of occasions. He is a talented performer – lovely strong melodic voice, good guitar accompaniments and he presents a well chosen selection of songs from a wide range of sources, both traditional and modern.
17th Jun STEVE TURNER
Steve has been on the folk circuit for many years and he is a whizzo on the concertina. He recently brought out a new album (The Whirligig of Time) where he is accompanied by people like Martin Carthy, Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, and many others. We are pleased to welcome Steve on this, his first visit to the Windmill, on what will I'm sure be a most entertaining evening.

Jul No Guests in July - Singers Night every Thursday
Aug Club Closed for Summer Holidays during August
Sep No Guests in September - Singers Night every Thursday

14th  Oct TUDOR LODGE
Lynne and John are loyal supporters of the club. They are presently recording a new CD and we felt it was time we had them back as our guests. They perform mainly self written material but always include some popular songs from past years. They are great musicians and performers and have presented some wonderful evenings at the club, so do come along and support John and Lynne.
18th  Nov JIM McLEAN
What can we say about Jim that we haven't said before? - great guitarist, singer, songwriter and all round performer. Whether singing a quiet ballad, material to make you think or leading the audience in a rousing chorus song, Jim has the ability to do it all. But don't take our word for it - come and find out for yourself!
16th  Dec Christmas party
Due to the proximity of the following Thursday to Christmas, with the consequent possibility that many of our regulars won't be available, we have decided to have the club Christmas party on 16th. It will be run in the usual way with performers encouraged to include Christmas/seasonal material. Food will be provided, but additional contributions to the food table will be welcome. (The Christmas letter box will be available in the preceeding weeks.)
