PROGRAMME FOR 2008

Don't forget that ALL THURSDAYS not shown below are still terrific fun - we always have wonderful local musicians playing a variety of styles, songs and music

24th Jan BURNS NIGHT with the CROW ROAD BAND (TBC) We hope the Crow Road Band (Jan, Phil and Alan) will be with us on the evening to provide their usual fun programme of Scottish songs, but this depends on work commitments. However, if they are unavailable we will still make it a Scottish theme evening. So dig out some appropriate songs and be prepared to join in the celebration of the bard.
7th Feb SONS of NAVARONE Eugene O'Brien and his Belgian friends will be paying their annual visit to the Windmill. All are excellent musicians, playing a selection of stringed instruments - guitar, banjo, double bass and mandolin. Type of music varies from popular songs to bluegrass. A great evening can be assured!
20th Mar ST PATRICK'S NIGHT with KELLYS AYE
This is the club's annual Irish evening. Felix and Kathy will present a programme of songs and tunes from the Emerald Isle, including a selection of modern and traditional songs as well as lots of join-in and sing-along material - chorus sheets provided! So come along, listen, join in and have a fun evening!
24th  Apr TUDOR LODGE
It's been quite a while since Lynne Whiteland and John Stannard have guested as Tudor Lodge at the Windmill, so it is with great pleasure we can announce they will be our guests tonight. This talented and popular duo are great supporters of the club and they have run a number of charity evenings which have been great fun. Tonight they will mainly be performing their own songs. Both are excellent musicians and singers and this is an evening to look forward to
15th May BRAM TAYLOR
Bram is a singer and guitarist from the Lancashire/Manchester area. He has a wonderful voice which he uses with great effect. His songs range from traditional to those by modern song writers, mostly accompanied by guitar. It is a couple of years since his last visit to the Windmill, so it is certainly time we had Bram back again!
TBC Jun A BAND LIKE ALICE
We are presently organising a visit from A Band Like Alice. This is a bluegrass band with Sherryl and Gary Payne, our club organisers, in the line up. They have regular festival bookings, but it is rare to have the chance to see them in the intimate setting of the Windmill. This is bound to be a popular night, so we suggest you arrive early to get a good seat!
July No guests, but the club will meet as usual
August We take a break. So see you all in September!
25th Sep INSIDE AND OUT
Brothers Martin and Chris, otherwise known as Inside and Out, have been wowing audiences at the Poppys club and they have even found their way to the Windmill several times. They sing a lot of songs from the sixties etc which are old favourites. With their different but complimentary styles of guitar playing and unusual settings of these songs, they are really worth going out of your way to hear.
9th Oct TOM BLISS
Tom is a song writer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. He plays at folk festivals and clubs around the country. Originally with the band SLIDE, Tom now performs both solo and with other musicians. Tonight he is performing solo. A big welcome to him on his first visit to the Windmill.
27th Nov STUART TESTER and friends
Stuart has performed regularly at both the Windmill and Poppy's over the past few years. He is a splendid performer - great guitarist, great singer, great songs! Due to a busy work schedule it has been difficult to pin him down to a firm date, so it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back as our guest this evening.

N.B. The Christmas post box will be available in December on club evenings. Christmas cards for 'Windmill friends' should be placed in the box before 18 December so that they can be sorted and distributed at the Christmas party.

18th Dec CHRISTMAS PARTY
Always a fun evening and always busy, but we try to accomodate as many floor singers as possible. Christmas songs/tunes are encouraged but not essential. A small contribution to the food table will be welcome.

Both Christmas day and New Year's day are on a Thursday, so see you all on 8 January.
