PROGRAMME FOR 2007

Don't forget that ALL THURSDAYS not shown below are still terrific fun - we always have wonderful local musicians playing a variety of styles, songs and music

25th Jan BURNS NIGHT with the CROW ROW BAND We've been running a Burns evening with the Crow Road Band (Jan Moncrieff, Phil McCready and Alan McLean) for many years now. Although members of the band are moving away from the immediate area, they still plan to be at the Windmill for the 2007 event, when they will provide the usual fun evening of Scottish music, including songs from the Bard.
15th Feb SIXTIES NIGHT with Lynne, John and Francis A selection of music from the sixties presented by Lynne, John and Francis. There will be many of the old favourites and lots of chances to sing along. Floor singers are also encouraged to include songs of the period. Dig out your old sixties clothes (caftans, beads, mini skirts, flaired trousers, etc. etc.... ) and join us for what should a a fun evening.
22nd Feb SONS of NAVARONE (Belgium). We always enjoy having Eugene and his 3 Belgian friends to perform at the Windmill. They play a range of stringed instruments and all are excellent musicians. The music played varies from bluegrass to modern and popular songs.
15th Mar ST PATRICK'S NIGHT with KELLYS AYE
This is our annual Irish evening with the proximity of St Patrick's night being the excuse! Felix and Kathy play guitar, mandolin, mandola and whistle and they will include modern and older songs and tunes from the Emerald Isle. And, as ever, there will be lots of chances for audience participation!
SUNDAY 15th Apr ***Special Night at the Windsor Arts Centre*** Keith & Nicole Hardy are going to France for an extended period and have invited us to join them at the Windsor Arts Centre for their farewell. We hope lots of folk from the Windmill club will be present for the occasion so we can send them off in an appropriate manner!
19th Apr HOME TERRITORY We are pleased to welcome Home Territory to their .... well, in the case of Sherryl and Gary, home territory! Additional band members are Richard Holland, Emily Smith and Lennie Harvey. They play a range of instruments and their music includes American and Bluegrass - a great night in store for all you music lovers!
31st May WOOD, WIRE and WORDS Pat Francis has played in various bands with Gary Payne but has now joined up with daughter Clare and son-in-law David Rozzell as Wood, Wire and Words. Musical influences are diverse, ranging from The Beatles and Ralph McTell to Alison Krauss and Tim O'Brien. They gave us a splendid evening when they played at the club previously, and we look forward to their return visit.
21st Jun THEME: Friends and/or Lovers Here's a theme that everyone should be able to cope with. There are lots of songs about love - perhaps not so many about friendship, but if you start to think about it, you might be surprised at what you can dig out!

July

*** Club open as usual in July for singers evenings ***

August

*** Due to other commitments this month, the organisers have reluctantly decided that, for the first time ever, there will be a break during August. But everything will return to normal at the beginning of September. ***

20th Sep

STEVE DONELLY
Steve is a singer and guitarist whose name is beginning to appear on gig lists in the area. His material is varied - he is equally at home performing traditional and modern songs. He has played at our club as a floor singer on a number of occasions. Now we have a chance to hear more of this talented local musician at the Windmill.
4th Oct MARTYN WYNDHAM-READ Martyn is well known on the UK folk circuit. He was well received when he turned up unexpectedly at the Windmill Christmas party last year (with Stuart Tester) and performed as a floor singer. As he spends quite a lot of time out of the country, we are lucky that we have been able to find a slot in his busy calendar for a guest visit to the club.
25th Oct WASTELAND GREEN On a number of occasions the Berlin band, Hot String Quintet, have been guests at the club. Lead guitarist from HSQ, Friedrich Barniske, has teamed up with vocalist Susanne Werth and accordion player Arne Zauber as Wasteland Green. Music performed includes folk, pop, jazz and country. We very much look forward to hearing them perform at the Windmill.
22nd Nov JIM McLEAN A very welcome return visit from an 'old friend' of the club. Jim is an excellent guitarist and singer and he never fails to produce an enthusiastic response from the audience. If you haven't heard him before, don't miss this evening - you won't be disappointed!
20th Dec CHRISTMAS PARTY There is no guest tonight - we never need one at the Christmas party! There are always plenty of floor singers who will (we hope!) try to include something Christmassy or seasonal in their sets. Our genial landlord provides sandwiches at the interval. A small contribution to the food table from those present is welcomed.
