PROGRAMME FOR 2006

Don't forget that ALL THURSDAYS not shown below are still terrific fun - we always have wonderful local musicians playing a variety of styles, songs and music

26th Jan The ALTERNATIVE BURNS EVENING with the CROW ROAD BAND Join us in our annual Burns evening with genuine Scots Jan and Alan, and honoury Scot, Phil, when they present an evening of Scottish music. There will be the usual haggis and neaps at the interval, the haggis being addressed by Tony in his inimitable style. Always a most enjoyable evening.
9th Feb Theme - Singalong songs
We always enjoy a good singalong. This evening performers are encouraged to include songs with choruses or something we all know. These evenings are always fun, both for performers and audience.
2nd Mar THE SONS OF NAVARONE (from Belgium) The Sons will be making what has become their annual visit to the club. This mainly Belgian group play a variety of stringed instruments (including banjo, guitar, double bass and mandolin). Their repertoire includes bluegrass, pop (past and present) and some slower 3 part harmony songs. We can promise you a most entertaining evening!
16th Mar ST PATRICK'S NIGHT with KELLYS AYE
Felix and Kathy present an evening of Irish music. There will be the usual mix of songs and tunes, modern and traditional, and there will be lots of chances for the audience to participate and sing along. So, join us for some great Irish music.
20th Apr JIM McLEAN Jim is a regular guest at the Windmill and is always very welcome. He is an excellent singer and guitarist. His songs vary from modern to traditional and he usually includes some of his own compositions. An evening not to be missed!
25th May KEITH HARDY Keith is another great favourite at our club. His guitar style and manner of singing quickly draw in the audience and by the end of the evening everyone will be singing along. He will probably be accompanied at times by his wife, Nicole, and possibly other performers. Again - don't miss it!
22nd Jun THE PETE MORRISON BAND Pete Morrison has been playing and singing around the area for many years. He has been involved with a number of bands. He is equally at home singing close harmony accapella and playing in multi-instrumental bands. This promises to be a most entertaining evening.
July No guest nights but club meets as usual on Thursdays
31st Aug A BAND LIKE ALICE It's been some time since we've had the full 'Band Like Alice' at the Windmill. The band, which includes Gary and Sherryl, are presently recording their new CD. The CD should be available for their Windmill gig in August. So, all you bluegrass fans, put the dates in your diaries now and come early on the evening to be sure you get a seat.
28th Sep TERRY ST. CLAIR It's so long since Terry, who is from the London area, has been to the club that many of our regulars will not have seen him perform. He was introduced to the Windmill by Tudor Lodge who loved his music when they first heard him. Terry is an excellent singer and guitarist, and writes quite a lot of his own material. He always enjoys playing at the Windmill, and we are very pleased to welcome him back to our club.
26th Oct JIM COZENS When Jim played at the Windmill as a floor singer several years ago, we knew he would do a brilliant guest evening and we booked him right away. Since then he has been working abroad but now he is gigging in the area again. Jim has supported some well known names in the music world and he has recently brought out his own CD. We are really pleased to welcome him back to the Windmill for our October guest evening.
23rd Nov THEME - OSCARS NIGHT The last time Lynne (of Tudor Lodge fame) organised an Oscars night we had a great evening. Performers and audience were encouraged to 'dress up' for the occasion, and awards were presented to musicians for their vocal and/or instrumental contributions to the club. Exactly what Lynne has planned for this occasion is unknown, but, whatever it is, we can be sure it will be a fun evening.
21st Dec CHRISTMAS PARTY This will be the usual pre-Christmas evening when performers are encouraged to include something Christmassy in their sets and possibly familiar carols that all can join in with. We are always pleased to see 'old friends' who usually turn up on this special occasion. At the interval there will be food provided by our host Trevor, though additional food contributions will be welcome (but don't bring too much!).
