PROGRAMME FOR 2005

Don't forget that ALL THURSDAYS not shown below are still terrific fun - we always have wonderful local musicians playing a variety of styles, songs and music

6th Jan MAGPIE NIGHT On this evening performers have a chance to sing songs they love but which are normally sung by other club regulars. A fun way to start the new year.
20th Jan The ALTERNATIVE BURNS EVENING with the CROW ROAD BAND This is the 10th evening of Scottish music in honour of the bard, provided by Jan, Phil and Alan - always great fun. And of course there's haggis, piped in, addressed an 'aw, with the usual accompaniments. A very popular evening at the Windmill. Note the change of date from 27th Jan!
10th Feb THE SONS OF NAVARONE The Belgian based band (3 Belgians and 1 Irishman!) return once more to delight audiences on this side of the English Channel, with their type of bluegrass music. It's always a pleasure to welcome these excellent musicians back to our club.
3rd Mar Theme - REQUEST NIGHT
You, our audience, will have the chance to influence what happens this evening. In the weeks prior to the event, you will have the chance to request songs you would like regular performers to sing - golden oldies, regular favourites, songs they've forgotten, ... ? Who knows what will be requested - it's up to you!
17th Mar ST PATRICK'S NIGHT with KELLYS AYE
This time our evening of Irish music is actually on St Patrick's night. So, join Felix and Kathy at the Windmill to celebrate the occasion in a fun evening of songs and tunes (modern and traditional), including lots of chances for audience participation - chorus sheets provided.
21st Apr Theme - ENGLISH SONGS
We regularly have Scottish and Irish evenings. Tonight we are celebrating the forthcoming St George's day, by having our first evening of English music. So, all you folk who seldom sing English songs, we're depending on you to make this a successful evening!
28th Apr STUART TESTER and FRIENDS
We are very lucky at this club to have some top class local performers. One of these is Stuart Tester. He sings songs to make you laugh, to make you think, to join in with - and all beautifully executed. He will be accompanied by brother-in-law Stephen and, perhaps, other members of the family.
12th May LIZ SIMCOCK
Liz plays guitar and sings own composition songs. She gave us a splendid evening when she first appeared as a solo guest at the club a couple of years ago. On this occasion she will be accompanied by a couple of fellow musicians. This promises to be an excellent evening.
30th Jun TUDOR LODGE
John and Lynne have done so much for the club over the years, running our charity events. On this occasion they are going to do an evening for us as Tudor Lodge. They are both talented performers and song writers and we know that this is going to be an excellent evening. So, put it in your diary now!
Jul Aug No Guests but the club meets as usual every Thursday.
1st Sep SALLY VAN METER
Sally lives in Colorado she and will be touring in the UK late summer/early autumn. We are very lucky to have been able to book this talented artist for our club. She is a 'whizzo' on the dobro and she will be accompanied by other talented musicians when she visits the club. A musical treat for all.
8th Sep BRAM TAYLOR
This is Bram's third visit to the Windmill. He always provides a most entertaining evening. He is a talented musician who has something for everyone. His material ranges from traditional to modern, usually accompanied by guitar but with the occasional acappella number. It's a real pleasure to have Bram back again.
6th Oct GERRY DRYDEN & Friends
Gerry needs no introduction to Windmill audiences. His song writing skills and his musicianship make him one of our most popular performers. On this evening he will be accompanied by fellow musicians (and members of the Gerry Dryden Band) - Lynne Whiteland, John Stannard and Mike Baker. Definitely worth coming to the club this evening!
3rd Nov Club Swap with Windsor
On this evening players from the Mellow Monday club at the Windsor Arts Centre will be coming to The Windmill.
The team will be led by our old friends Keith and Nicole Hardy who are great favourites at the Windmill. This should be a fun evening. The return visit of Windmill performers to Windsor will be on a Monday evening still to be arranged.
17th Nov CHRIS STUART & BACK COUNTRY
This American band will be touring the UK in November. They are highly regarded by the bluegrass fraternity and once again our club has been very lucky in being able to book such high quality guests. If your interest is in American music, then this is an evening not to be missed!
22nd Dec Christmas Party
Can you believe it - almost Christmas again! Time to dig out those seasonal songs you've been intending to learn since last Christmas. But don't worry if you haven't any Christmas songs, you can still perform. There will be the usual eats provided by the management.
(Additional food contributions always welcome.)

The club will be closed between Christmas and New Year. We start off 2006 with a singers night on January 6.
