PROGRAMME FOR 2016

January 8 The Stomping Nomads
We always try to do something different for our anniversary evening and the Stomping Nomads certainly fit this category. They play a range of instruments and perform stomping good music, mainly of American origin. What better way could there be to clear away the mid winter blues!

February 12 Payne's People
Sherryl and Gary Payne are involved with various bands and musical projects. They always give us a fun evening with great music when they invite along some of their musician friends to join them at Poppy's.

March 11 Alison Frosdick & Jack Burnaby
This duo has been entrancing audiences around London and the south of England over the last year. They perform English songs, toe tapping tunes, sing-along choruses and, more recently, include self written material, accompanied by whistle, concertina and melodeon. With Alison's superb and beguiling voice and support vocals from Jack, this is a duo you won't want to miss!

April 8 Featured guest: John Buckley
John is a professional musician who has recently discovered Poppy's. He has performed several times as a floor singer, to great acclaim. Now we are giving him a chance to really show us what he can really do! Should be a wonderful evening.

May 20th (NB 3rd Friday) Singers' Evening
It's been a long time since we've had a singers/open evening. We have so many talented local performers who don't always get a chance to play at the club - well, now's your chance.

Jun 10th Singers' Evening
Another chance for all you budding musicians to show us what you can do. Dust off your vocal cords/guitar strings and come and join us.

June 24 - 26 BOARS BRIDGE FESTIVAL
Annual festival held at Tadley, Hampshire, details of the festival will be obtainable from the website link above nearer the time.

July 8th Singers' evening
The last evening before the summer break - so let's make it a fun evening. Lot's of scope for all you potential musicians to play at the club.

August: We're CLOSED!

September 9th Featured Guest: No Small Thing
Steve Messenger and Liss Lynch are local musicians who who are normally busy with musical commitments on Friday nights. We've managed to pin them down to come to Poppy's this month. They play guitar and fiddle and include modern and traditional material in their sets, as well as self compositions. They are also great exponents of Irish instrumental music. What a great way to start the new season!

October 14th Tudor Lodge
Lynne Whiteland and John Stannard have been playing together as Tudor Lodge for many years. Most of their songs are written by Lynne, though some of John's material is also performed by the duo. Both are excellent musicians and they are regular supporters of Poppy's. We are pleased that they have agreed to be our guests on this occasion.

November 11th Jim MacLean
The multi-talented Jim is one of our most popular guests. He's an excellent guitarist, singer and songwriter, and a good friend to the club. We recommend you get there early as seating is likely to be at a premium!

December 9th The Christmas Party Night
No doubt there'll be lots of songs with a Christmas theme tonight -but it's not compulsory! A small contribution to the food table will be welcome.
