January 14 our 6th Anniversary! . 6th anniversary with Kellys Aye February 11 Steve Donnelly When Steve was our guest in 2009, he provided a wonderful evening’s entertainment. He is a great guitarist and has a splendid singing voice. His songs vary from modern (including self penned) to more traditional. He will probably bring along some musical friends to support him on the evening. March 11 Tudor Lodge Tudor Lodge are Lynne Whiteland and John Stannard. They have performed frequently at Poppys, usually together though sometimes solo or with other musicians. They both play guitar and sing mainly self penned material but generally include some familiar songs from the Sixties which we can all join in with to raise the Yateley Industries rafters! April 8 and May 13After several guest events we now have a couple of evenings when we have a chance to listen to more of our local performers. June 10 Mike Baker and Friends: A Celebration of the Life of Alec Burbidge Alec was the man who started the Poppys club. Tonight we celebrate his life - a man who brought much fun and joy to whatever he did and the people he knew. Mike Baker, one of the finest guitarists around, will be joined by other talented musicians tonight, for what promises to be a wonderful evening of music. Advance warning The Boar’s Bridge Festival 18 – 19 June Keep this weekend free if you can! More details later. July 8 Singers night A chance for our local performers to show us more of what they can do - everyone welcome. August We're closed To allow you to go to some of those folk festivals that abound at this time of year! September 9 Singers night You never can predict who will turn up on these evenings, but they are always fun. October 14 Jim McLean Jim is always a very popular guest at the club. He brings good music, well sung and played, and with a great sense of fun - and with chances for audience participation. If you haven't heard Jim before then you are in for a real treat! November 11 A Band Like Alice This is one of the UKs top bluegrass bands. Although they haven't played as a band at Poppys, the more perceptive in the audience will recognise our own Gary and Sherryl Payne in the lineup, along with other talented musicians. Bound to be a popular evening - we recommend you get there early to be sure you get a seat! December 2 Christmas party Let's hope the snow doesn't get us again this year and force cancellation of the event! We encourage inclusion of festive or Christmassy material from our performers but if you don't know anything in that category then don't worry.
