The first of these evenings at Yateley Industries was held in January 2005. Can you believe it - the Poppy's club has been running successfully for almost 3 years. Over that period almost 50 people have performed as 'floor singers', either as individuals or in combinations with others. Our invited guests have been either people who have performed here previously, or bands which include club regulars. Not many clubs have so much local talent or so much support from our audiences. Our thanks to everyone for supporting Poppy's over the period and to our ever cheerful barmen, Richard and Dave, without whom club evenings would not be the same!!

And now a special announcement for 2009
We decided there has been something missing at Poppy's and now we've realised what it is we're proud to announce that great stalwart and much-loved singer, both here and at the Windmill Club at Ewshot, ALEX BURBIDGE is to be our HONORARY PRESIDENT!



PROGRAMME FOR 2009


January 9 will be our 4th Birthday! Theme - Something old, new, borrowed or blue.
The theme is usually associated with weddings, but as this is a celebration night at the club we thought it appropriate. Performers can choose material that fits into one or more of these categories. It will be fun to see what everyone comes up with.

February 13 Singers Night
It’s a long time since we had a ‘normal’ singers evening at the club, but these nights can be just as much fun as guest evenings - especially with the talented performers who regularly play at Poppy’s.

March 13 Stuart Tester and Mike Baker (& friends)
Regular punters to Poppy’s or the Windmill, will have heard both Stuart and Mike performing, either solo or with other people, but not as a duo. This is an exciting new venture from 2 talented guitarists. Stuart has a wide range of material from the empathic to the downright funny. We very much look forward to hearing the guys play this evening.

April 10 Wendy Ealey - from Australia
This is the club’s first guest from the antipodes. When we heard Wendy was coming to the UK on a short visit, we just had to include her on the 2009 programme. She’s a wonderful guitarist and song writer, has a beautiful voice and great rapport with her audiences. We think you’re going to love her!

May 8 Singers Night
Again an evening when our local musicians have the chance to show us what they can do!

October 9 Inside Out
Since the start of the club Chris and Martin have delighted audiences at Poppy's. Both are excellent guitarists. Their different styles of playing compliment each other beautifully and their music never fails to impress audiences. Along with their bass player, Ian, they are known as Inside Out. Their previous guest evening was a pack out - so come early to make sure you get a seat!

November 13 Steve Donnelly & friends
Steve is a great singer, guitarist and song writer. His repertoire is varied and includes traditional and modern material and well crafted self penned songs. He has already been a guest at several local venues including our sister club at Ewshot, The Windmill. Now that Steve has found Poppy's we are pleased to welcome him for an evening of 'keeping the old songs alive'. (If you want to know more about Steve check his web-site )

December 4 Christmas Party (NB 1st Friday)
For the December gathering we encourage performers to include something seasonal in their sets. So, let your hair down and join us for an evening of Christmas fun at Poppy's.
