Safety Briefing A Safety Briefing being given before rifle shooters take part in the main competition.
New in 1998, 
Field Target Air Rifle. 
This outdoor event is a more advanced test of marksmanship. It tests the shooter's ability to estimate range and to make allowance for it.
Field Target shooting requires frequent changes of position. 
The shooter fires from standing, kneeling and sitting.
All shooters are under the skilled supervision of experienced Range Conducting Officers throughout their shoot.
The air pistol event takes place in the campsite's permanent airgun range. 
Air pistol shooting at targets this small requires intense concentration!
Walton Firs also has a permanent archery range which is in use for friendly competition during the weekend.
Archery is the most traditional form of the target sports. It remains a popular Scout activity.
A Five-a-side football tournament takes place during the weekend.
Jay Raberhu, of 9th Bramshill (Yateley) Scout Group, receives the Ken White Memorial Trophy and gold medal for the highest score by a Scout under 14, from Bill Cook, who founded the National Scout Air Rifle Championships in 1977.
Bill Cook presents the Webley Scott Shield to the winning team, 9th Bramshill (Yateley) Scout Group, The 1998 Group Champions.
