We
are pleased to announce the initial releases in this new range of kits and detail sets.
The theme of the range will be principally [though not totally] vessels from WWII, as
operated by Britain and her allies. Obviously, given the main chosen scale of 1/72nd, the
emphasis will be on smaller subjects. They will allow the builder to produce models of
museum standard. The fittings on these sets and kits are where the accent on detail will
be particularly noticeable. Construction from the deck [if applicable] upwards, is
entirely from photo-etched brass and cast metal, using slot & tab construction
methods. These kits and sets all come with colour-coded assembly instructions and most
include some photographic references. |

This range of sets has been developed over several years and are the first releases in the GLS range - one that will concentrate mainly on Royal Navy WW2 subjects in 1/72nd Scale. These kits and sets all come with colour-coded assembly instructions and most include some photographic references. |

We would like to acknowledge the help given us by John Lambert in the development of these sets. His continued assistance has helped us to ensure that the maximum level of accuracy has been maintained throughout. John is continually uncovering yet more material on Corvettes [and other subjects] but for us, there has to be a cut-off point somewhere! His book on Corvettes has just been published but for the serious modeller there is no substitute for working from his superb large format plans - these are sold directly by John himself. Question - Why have you produced so many Corvette Sets? |
|
Answer - the main reason is so that you have the option to spread the cost of purchase - to only buy the set or sets that you intend to use at that time and add the next set as you are ready. If you start with the deck and fittings set - you will find that all of the remaining sets you buy are designed to join to the new decks. We have not done this so that you use only one or two of the sets! We firmly believe that once you have seen one of these sets you will want all of the sets that apply to the Corvette you wish to build. |

Question - If I use all of the Sets - how much of the kit will I use? |
|
Answer - just the hull/prop./rudder, the funnel [as a blank for our rivetted overlay], some vents + one or two small fittings. In return you will get one of the most detailed warships it is possible to buy at a length-for-length price that is substantially less than that for the most detailed complete multi-media kits on the market [and those are in a smaller scale!]. The Revell/Matchbox kit is really only a way of getting a hull that is cheap in comparison with one manufactured by a specialist model company, such as ourselves. Our Sets are intended to be not so much detail sets, as parts to make a complete Flower Class minus the hull! Once you start really looking at some of the good photographs now being published of these vessels you will realise just how un-usable most of the plastic kit is for those wishing to make a truly highly-detailed model. Remember - this is your project of a lifetime - many months of construction with parts totalling thousands [not hundreds] in number! |
