A Blast from the Past - Old Photos
These pictures were taken by me over an eleven year span from Goodwood in 1958 when I was aged 15,
through to 1969 at Brands Hatch, taking in Monaco, Silverstone and Monza on the way AND including
one famous fake!   Identification given with each picture. Most are scanned from early colour slide
film which had a high contrast and the slides have suffered with age so the quality's not too brilliant.

Goodwood, Easter 1965
was the last meeting at which full works Grand Prix cars appeared at the circuit. The end of an era.

Monaco GP, May 1967
I was fortunate indeed to be able to go to the Monaco Grand Prix every year from 1964 to 1968,
and here I’ve posted some of the photographs I took in 1967. Note the access to the circuit and
to the drivers, I’m sure this is not available today to the paying public! The cars used to assemble
down a side street before the practices having been driven through the streets of the town. On the
run up the hill from Ste Devote you could lean over the fence and almost touch the cars as they
passed. The noise was splendidly deafening.
I still have an audio tape of the first laps of the 1968 race, which I have finally managed to
convert to mp3 format which you can download here
