Frederick Horniman was an avid collector of curios and specimens of insect life and travelled widely, his father John invented Horniman's Packeted tea. Fredericks collection was initially displayed in his home at Forest Hill and is now housed in a new building called Hornimans Museum. The gardens that were originally part of the house are now open to the public.
