This I consider to be the classic view of Beckenham looking up the end of the High Street towards the parish church of St. George. This section of the high street was originally called Church Hill and was very susceptible to flooding due to the high street gradients and a now hidden stream. The water was known to lap the top of the shop counters on the street corner.
