Genial 2 with dominant strings £160 (it's not a Zeller, you know!)
Gems 2 with dominant strings £250 The Gems 2 is the best seller of the best sellers.
We have never yet had one of these back. Come to think of it, we've only had one Genial back and that was a very obvious teacher kickback situation.
Gama 1 with dominant strings £500 The Gama 2 sounds very similar. We have had precisely two Gamas returned.
One was a very obvious teacher kickback situation (the bows had not even been rosined!) and the other was from someone prepared to pay four times as much.

Strunal 920 with dominant strings
Strunal 1750 with Corelli Crystal strings This Strunal 1750 has a set up problem (we did not realise until doing the recording):
the bridge has to be replaced to make it playable. The squeaks and obvious problems reflect this.
Strunal 3350 with dominant srings The 3320 sounds somewhat similar.

This is the worst Gliga viola I have ever heard. Had we realised it was so bad we wouldn't have recorded it!
Gems 2 16 inch viola with dominant strings
By contrast, this is a particularly good Gems viola. However it is not exceptional: they do often sound this good if they have matured a little (as sometimes happens in the storeroom!). You can reasonably expect a Gems viola (larger sizes anyway) to sound like this once it has been played in for a few days. No it really truly isn't a cello!
