'Images of Water Pump Replacement'

Left hand side engine casing with water pump casing off.
This is where the water pump fins sit.
The shaft pokes through the hole and runs in 2 oil / water seals.
TIP: If these seals have gone, you can loose either water or oil as it will seep past these seals..(Direct tip from an Aprilia Dealer in Italy !!)

The funny shape is to deflect water and utilises a simple cover plate to circulate the water around (sort of vortex) - Water Deflector

This picture shows the Water Pump Fin shaft.
This is easy to replace, simply pull out and remove the drive cog wheel.
The water pump is direct gear driven.
You can also see the clutch basket in this picture.

This picture shows where the Thermostat housing sits, behind the
left hand engine casing.

Took me ages to find this initially, then it was obvious where it should be !!!

When the engine casing is removed, the Thermostat + thermostat housing comes off with it.

Thermostat housing on the engine casing.

This is a rear view of the left hand side engine casing. The termostat sits in this housing and sits on a return spring to keep it under pressure.

When re-assembling make sure this is lined up correctly with the clutch basket or you wont have a working clutch anymore..
