'Aprilia Pegaso 650cc Cube - UK'

I started this website because I purchased a 'Peg' off one of my mates (basically to ride around Holland while I was doing some work out there). When I tried to buy some 'parts' for it, I realised jusy how hard it was to get bits for these bikes, both in the UK and in Holland.
This website has been set up for you...The Pegaso enthusiast / owner. If you have ANY information that is relevant to Aprilia Pegaso's, email it to me and I will try and include it on this website, the more info I get, the better this website will be.

My Peg - Before the 'Upgrades'

This is my 'Peg' (Above), its a '97 model, standard (when these pictures were taken) except for a rear set of footpegs in blue and a rear top box carrier bought from 'Hein Gericke' in Bristol..I am just about to fit a set of 'Marving Pipes', bought from Italy.. I will let you know what they are like when I have fitted them.
These are very 'under-rated' bikes, if you think they are rubbish, have a go on one, your mind will soon be changed. The road holding on them is great (I have had mine stuffed up the inside of quite a few 'Larger Sports Bikes' around corners, much to the dis-belief of the other rider), my mate had this Peg whizzing round Spar Race Track on a Track Day when he owned it, footpegs touching. The only thing that lets them down a bit is the top end speed (I've had this one at about 185 KPH (115 MPH), lying flat on the tank), but what it looses in out-right speed it certainly makes up for in practicality, round town riding and wheelies.. Oh, the wheelies...

This is a picture of the pipes before fitting...

He will Mail Order stuff to you, no problem, but you will need to find someone who speaks Italian as he doesn't speak a word of English. They cost me about £250-00 for the set, Stainless Steel with Alloy Plates...

I have listed below some of the jobs I have done on the Peg and rated them with a 'Hammer'.
1 x hammer = Easy, 5 x hammers = Hard.
Does anyone know whre I can get a workshop manual from ???? HELP !!!!

Jobs Completed + In-Progress
Oil / Filter Change Easy Job, No problems..What can I say really, Drain the Oil, Remove + Fit new filter, put some more oil in.. Basic's..The only problem was finding the right oil level, wierd oil fill / dip stick arrangement as it uses the frame as the oil sump..
Water Pump Replacement

View other images of Water Pump Replacement
Parts are purchased individualy. water fins, Shaft, Pins, Gaskets. Reasonably easy Job, the hardest part is removing the old fins, in the end I just destroyed the old fins with a pair of pliers and brut force, then it's easy to remove the old pin. If you want to replace the shaft and shaft oil seals you will need to remove the left hand side engine casing (which I was doing anyway to replace the gear lever oil seal). Then its: Remove water pump housing, remove old fins, remove clutch cable + gear selector, dis-connect water pipes, remove engine casing (watch out for all the oil), replace shaft + shaft seals, dont forget the washer on the end of the shaft, replace engine casing + re-fit all bits. When re-fitting the pump blades take care with the pin, drive it home carefully.
The small rubber gasket is actually the thermostat housing gasket. The thermostat + housing comes off with the left hand side engine casing..
Thermostat Replacement This is positioned behind the water pump housing in a small thermostat housing. Remove 2 bolts and thats it. Make note of where big spring is for when you re-fit it.
Gear Lever Oil Seal Replacement Easy job once the left hand side engine casing is off. Just pop out the old oil seal + fit the new one...
Rear Top-Box Carrier
(Hein Gerricke)
I bought this Top-Box carrier from Hein Gericke in Bristol.
Its their own make, very easy to fit, just drill 5 holes in the plastic carrier and fit this plate. Top box is approx 30 litres.

Cost around £30-00.
Starting Resistor ? There has been some talk on the internet groups about this 'Starting Resistor'.
Some peolpe have said if you have any starting problems after the bike has been sitting for a few days, try removing this resistor and put a wire in its place.
Don't know how true this is as I've never had starting problems so i have not touched this myself.
It's located behind the Left Hand Side fairing near the battery.

I have managed to get the official 'Aprillia CD-ROM' with part numbers etc, but no real technical stuff on how to do jobs on the bike.....

Below are some pictures I have 'aquired' from the CD-ROM, I don't know if they are of any use to people, but here they are anyway, I will be adding Part Numbers + Descriptions as and when I get time to do it..

Technical Stuff - Or, not so technical...
