This was the Second Bivvy Exercise the Sqn has run and once again the invite went out to a number of other Sqn's.

Unfortunatley due to the timing of the exercise, on a bank holiday weekend at the start of half term right in the middle of the exam period, the turn out was down on the last exercise.
Nevertheless the exercise went ahead and all those that did attend will confirm that it turned out to be a good laugh.

The Sqn's attending were, us, Caerleon and St Jo's (Newport) and once again the camp was split into Seniors and juniors.
The Seniors took the role of an attacking special forces unit and the juniors the defending forces.

The storyline for the weekend was a follow-on from the last exercise and Sheik Mei Beuti once again made an appearance, but this time running a chemical lab, with the assistance of a number of Russian scientists (see photos!!)

The Base Camp

As this was another overnight ex, and since last time the quality of bivvies is really improving.

After getting a bit cold last time, some of the Chepstow Seniors were determined to stay warm this time and some very advanced bivvy building was seen!
Meanwhile in another part of the forest, the ladies were putting the finishing touches to a textbook quality shelter (very impressive).

Road Block!

The juniors were briefed that the seniors were being re-supplied by road and were shown how to set-up and run a roadblock.
Mr Townsend and Mr Griffiths felt the full force of the guard force after the C.O. had managed to wind them up previouslly. (It's not my fault they were so strict. CO.)

The C.O. had briefed the staff to be 'less than helpfull' to the cadet guard force and that they certinaly were! Credit has to be given to the guards who handled the situation very well and gave as good as they got by making Mr Townsend empty his boot in the middle of the road!.
