The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities for young people aged 14-25.

The Award programme consists of three levels: Please click on the above links for the different criteria needed at each level.
The awards are broken down into 5 categories which are:
  • Service - Helping others in the community.
  • Expedition - Training, Planning & completing a journey.
  • Skill - Demonstrate the ability to improve in almost any hobby or interest.
  • Physical - take part in some extra physical activity.
And for Gold ONLY:
  • Residental - Take part in a purposeful enterprise with other young people not previouslly know to you.
The Award is widely recognised by employers as showing that the holders have actually done something by themselves above and beyond the "norm", that demonstrates high levels of level of self confidence, leadership and teamwork.
