Nottinghamshire Look-up Exchange

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST -

The following is a list of reference works on Nottinghamshire which volunteers are willing to search for specific entries. To ask for a look-up, please click on the name by the reference. Requests should be specific - do not ask for general research. Abuses of the kindness of these volunteers will probably cause them to withdraw their names so please don't ask for all references to a common name, or for time-consuming research. Don't expect volunteers to have access to any document or reference other than those listed by their name.

If you are new to The Look-up Exchange or unfamiliar with the records of the British Isles please visit the help page for vital information. Not only will you find the material extremely informative, but it will help you avoid wasting your own time, and that of our volunteers, on fruitless searches. The more you know, and the more specific you can be, the better we can help you. Blanket requests will almost certainly be met with "I'm sorry but...." Help us to help you - BE SPECIFIC

GILBOURNE and GILLBORN
surnames
I have completed  the extraction of all Gilborn/Gilborne/Gilbourn/Gilbourne entries in the GRO birth, marriage and death indexes from inception in the September quarter 1837 to 2004.  I also have an incomplete extract for Gilburn and Gillborn.
The extract is obviously for all england and Wales, but most are in Notts, Derbys & S.Yorks.

Dai Bevan

PARNHAM and POXON surnames I have amassed a database of POXON and PARNHAM birth, marriages and deaths for the period from June 1837 to mid 1950s (still being collected in this era). I am happy to provide lookups for POXONs or PARNHAMs within this period.   I
can do relational searches on the data, i.e., persons born 1850-1860 in Chesterfield.

John Poxon

BRADLEY I maintain the BRADLEY UK DATABASE with thousands of entries, many for Nottinghamashire. I will happily conduct specific or blanket searches. All I ask in return is details of your BRADLEY data to enter up for the benefit of future enquirers.

Many volunteers have documents covering more than one county.

Many of the sources used for these lookups are the result of the dedication and hard work of a Family History Society. Many Family History Societies produce publications related to their county. You may want to consider purchasing your own copy of relevent resources to aid your research. Some Societies sell their publications on-line, and can be found on their webpages. Another useful source of publications can be found at Genfair - the online family history fair . You may also wish to consider supporting research in this area by joining the society. Details can be found at their respective web-sites or see: FFHS Members List .
