Crackenthorpe Hall
nestles in the Eden Valley conveniently on the fringe of the Lake District
and within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales. The area offers an abundance
of opportunities for leisure activity, on the lakes, in the mountains
or the valleys, whether strenuous or leisurely; or simply relaxing with
convivial company and a fine wine, shrouded from the bustle of the 21st
Century..
Fishing
Crackenthorpe Hall retains approximately 2 miles of its own private stretch
of the River Eden, rich in natural flora and fauna, with much to interest
the ornithologist and angler. In 1997 the Eden was designated 'Best River
in England and Wales' by the Government's Environment Agency, (based on
fish catch figures). The Eden is now a designated conservation area and
a site of special scientific interest. The Crackenthorpe Hall stretch
is an improving water with a challenging variety of depth and pace within
its two designated beats. (usually two rods per beat). The water is especially
noted for its sporting wild brown trout. There are grayling and occassional
salmon, and sea trout to test the skills of the visiting Fly-fisherman.
