You can play for Worcestershire if you: were born in the county; are currently resident in the county; you are attending full-time education in the county; you are a member of a chess club in the county. County Chess League
There are two divisions, each with teams that play each other home and away. The league season is September to May. Division One matches are played over 6 boards and Division Two matches over 5 boards. The current Division 1 Champions are Halesowen 1. For the first time, the county is running a handicap team knock-out tournament with special rules.

Worcestershire County field an Open 16-board team and two 12-board under-125 and under-100 teams in the Midland Counties Chess Union inter-counties competitions. Postal Chess
Worcestershire Chess Association sides play in the BCF Ward-Higgs Trophy, the BCF Brown Pond Trophy and in the Midland Counties Chess Union Ritson Morry Trophy competitions. Woodcock Prize
Annually an award is made for the 'most enterprising' game played by a Worcestershire player during the season. The winning entry in the 2003-4 season can be seen here.
