in spite of the 7 ½ to 8 ½ loss to Lancs there were some good performances from Worcestershire players. The poor results for us in the top half of the order was not helped by Lancashire fielding rapidly improving juniors on boards 5 and 7. Andrew Moore managed a quick win with black playing a Sveshnikov, which balanced the even quicker defeat David suffered at the hands of the Lancs youngster who new the Sicilian Dragon inside out and upside down. The scores were fairly even until myself and Francis both lost in close succession giving the momentum to Lancs. they held this advantage in the remaining games. There were good wins from Don Curry, John Loynes, Jeremy Humphries. It was great to see Headless Cross junior Ashley Davis win his first game for Worcestershire, getting the better play against the Morra Gambit.
