The
team captain was Giles Stanton. These matches
were played on Saturday
afternoons starting at 1:30pm over
16 boards. There
were at least three matches this season . The top two teams
in the West Midlands will compete in the Midlands Finals and Semi-Finals
with the top two teams from the East Midlands where the competing
sides are Derbys, Leics, Lincs, and Notts. The playing session
is normally 4 hours with time control at 36 moves in 1½ hours
followed by a further ½ hour
for each player to complete the game. Giles in his pre-season review
stated: "Our
end-position of 5th in the u125 MCCU table from last
season does look a little disappointing, but the match
scores
three 9-7 defeats and a
8.5-7.5
loss shows all matches were hard fought. We should be inspired
by the success of last season's
U-100 Worcestershire side. As
well as some improving players from the U-100 team this season we will
have several experienced players whose grades have fallen just
below 125. This should give a very competitive team for the 2007-8
season." |
