The tournament was held on 31 October 2001 at Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Worcester. Over thirty children took part in two sections, Primary 5/6 and Primary 3/4.
There were six rounds of chess games. Matthew Wood was the winner of the Primary 5/6 section with 5 ½ points, beating his older brother Samuel by ½ a point. Matthew received the first prize and the champion's trophy. Jonathan Horne received the first prize and a medal for winning the Primary 3/4 section with 5 points. Tom Marks was second with 4½ points.
