The 1881 census shows
that the couple lived at 83 Lancaster St, Southwark Edmund Harry Ambrose and his wife moved to Blenheim Grove Peckham with his father Edmund Hugh. At the time, Peckham was on the edge of the countryside. The butcher fetched his sheep from just over the hill behind Peckham Park and the "gentry" lived in Barry Road and came down to Rye Lane to shop. The railway had recently opened and it was possible to travel longish distances cheaply. So gradually the folk near "The Borough", an area near London Bridge moved further out. One of Charles Hill's brothers moved to Asylum Road (by Queens Road Peckham railway station) which was named after the old folks home of the Licenced Victuallers Association. After Edmund Hugh's death, the family moved across the road to 64 Blenheim Grove and Edmund Harry Ambrose died there on 29 January 1911 |

The 1881 census shows her name as Georgiana
The Osbornes were a family who, for generations had and no doubt still do, worked as stone masons in the quarry at Montacute in Somerset. The churchyard which adjoined the gateway of the big estate is full of gravestones of Osbornes.
Her brother, Charles Osborne, ran "the old cider store" in London Road, Southwark and met Edward Harry Ambrose when she came up to see him.
Charles Osborne's wife became ill and he went farming in Lower Bulstone near Branscome (Seaton) Devon. She got no better and died just as he was finishing "Sunnybank" to which they were both to retire. He went there and was looked after by a relative known to the then younger generation as 'Aunt Louise'
Edmund and Georgina (she used her second name) moved to Blenheim Grove Peckham, then on the edge of the countryside. They lived first at number 45 and, after the death of Edmund Hugh, moved across the road to number 64. Edmund Harry Ambrose died 29 January 1911 and Georgina lived there until 22 July 1941 when, aged 82, she died. She was buried in the family grave 16528 at Nunhead Cemetery.
