The church of Beith was originally a chapel planted by the local Monastery of Kilbirnie, after the conversion of the area by St. Inan. There was a record of the Kirk of Baith in 1576.

But the Old Kirk in the Town Square bears the date of 1593. This was recorded in 1615 as "Byith Kirk: a parochiall church situate neir the laick of Kilburny"

In 1633, King Charles passed an act for the creation of a new church but it took 170 years to be built.

The High Church stands 343 ft above sea level. It was started in 1807 and cost to build £2,455, opening on 19th August 1810, around St.Inan's Day.
