The work focuses on the story of 'The Red Shoes' by Hans Christian Anderson. "My interest in 'The Red Shoes' can be located in my childhood and my re-reading, as an adult, of traditional fairy tales. The brutal fairy tale describes how the relentless dance of the young girl was eventually halted by chopping off her feet. Her feet then danced away, over the hill and out of sight. It remains one of my favourite stories." Lesley Bricknell
