Hiroshima - How to pronounce it
This is a poem written by Zo Venner after the sixtieth anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima last year. The sixty-first anniversary is approaching on the 6th of August 2006, at a time when the government seems intent on renewing Trident.
"This year I was also struck by the different ways in which newsreaders and announcers spoke the names of the cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, putting the accent on varying places in the word. ... It was as though the problems of pronounciation reflected the problems we have of assimilating the events themselves."
Democracy in Iraq
from a member of Bridport Peace and Justice Group when asked about the recent elections in Iraq, 3rd May 2005.
"There are several arguments against this based on the illegality of the war and the lies we were told to justify it, but there are also several features of this Iraqi 'democracy' that make it look rather hollow."
Message from Michael Berg
from Michael Berg, father of Nicholas Berg to the Stop TheWar Coalition on 16th May 2004
"People ask me why I focus on putting the blame for my son’s tragic and atrocious end on the Bush Administration."
Meeting with Oliver Letwin, Friday 13th February 2004
"I was misled about the Iraq war, Oliver Letwin tells Peace Group – but it turned out to be a good idea and the Iraqis will be grateful."

Demonstration/March London Thursday 20th November 2003
by David Partridge, 20th November 2003
