This is a project designed to try to preserve all Mexican Freshwater Fish.For example the :- Livebearers,Cichlids, Killies and others.In order to help try to prevent further extinction's.Mexico was selected for this project because it is home to a diverse and fascinating freshwater fish fauna, with many species found nowhere else on earth plus a high proportion that share an unusual reproductive habit and also have unusually high levels of endemism, and most are in great danger of extinction.
We have already started a Pilot Captive Breeding and Maintenance program in one University in Mexico "Ivan did this himself earlier in 1998. Our ultimate aim though is to set up such programs in Universities across the country, so eventually covering all species.
Ivan is a member of F.A.I.T.A.G. which is a Zoologically based Nation wide Fish conservation group recognised by the WWF and we ask you and or your club to support this project, by either making direct donations or fund raising. Then sending the proceeds preferably by cheque made payable to:- HALCP(MEXICO) this stands for and may be printed in full if you wish.:- Hobbyist Aqua Lab Conservation Project (MEXICO) and should be sent care of Ivan at the above address For amounts over £5 Acknowledgments will be sent if requested. Donors of Donations over £25 may if they request it receive an annual report and balance sheet to show how their monies are being spent and kept up to date with what is happening on the project.
100% of all donations will be spent directly on the Project's needs and none will be used for International Travel or personel expenses as we are totally non profit making. For further information Contact Ivan at the Address below
