Boulton St. Mary's, as the church is usually called today, practices the rites of the Church of England with The Book of Common Prayer being the basis for our services.

The church is within the Diocese of Derby and Deanery of Melbourne.

Alvaston Christians Together

Additionally St. Mary's is a member of Alvaston Christians Together (ACTs) which is an organisation forming an alliance of Christian churches of different denominations in the general area of Alvaston.

Our Aims and Beliefs

We are a Biblical church communicating God's Word in a relevant and compelling way. We are imperfect people striving to become more Christ-like, not just on Sundays, but in the way we live our lives every day.

St. Mary's is a place for new beginnings. We believe that no matter what you've done or where you've been, God's grace is available. Through His grace, healing can be found, addictions can be faced, forgiveness can be experienced, marriages can be restored, and lives can be changed.

St. Mary's is also a place where it's okay to not to be okay. You don't have to fake perfection. None of us are perfect, and, contrary to what you may think, God isn't looking for perfection. Just come as you are with your past, pain, challenges, and junk and God will meet you where you are - but He won't leave you there. He begins a work of transformation in your life and as you walk daily with God you will experience the amazing - and unconditional - love God has for you. God's love has no on/off switch. Not even a dimmer switch. How awesome is that?!!

The Church in the Community

We support and promote the activities of children and young people in the form of Scouts, Guides, Parent and Toddler groups etc. We also have a Sunday School called "Route 66".

Children from local schools are often invited into our church during term time to be given an appreciation of the role of the church in society today.

Parish Magazine

The church magazine called 'Shine' is produced 4 times a year (March, June, September and December) and could best be described as a magazine of love, joy, praise and encouragement. 'Shine' doesn't feature page after page of rotas and adverts... we focus on the important things; who God is, how much He loves each and every one of us, and how He is working through us, His body, in the parish of Boulton St. Mary's.

'Shine' is available on subscription, both to those living in our parish, and beyond.
