Ecclesiastes 11:9 |
The F.R.O.G. Fellowship meets every week during term time at St. Mary's and is for 13 -17 year olds. The F.R.O.G. Name and logo was generated by the young people from the acronym Fully Rely On God, and that is what our young people are all striving to do in their daily lives. We start each session with a 'round the table' chill out and chat about our week, catching up on all the gossip and goings on. This is usually followed by a discussion or activities based on a variety of topics relevant to young people, delivered through silly games and DVD or video clips, backed up using our bibles or our Christian experiences within the group. We have lots of other activities available to do including hockey, volleyball, football and pool. Throughout the year, the youth group also support charities such as 'Send A Cow' and 'World Vision'. We often go on trips to bowling or the cinema, or to other youth events in the city like FUEL (www.myspace.com/fuelderby). Each year our group attends Newday (www.newday.xtn.org). Newday is a six day camping event for young people where we get to encounter Jesus together. We spend time worshipping God, listening to teaching from the Bible and praying together in our main meetings. In smaller teaching seminars we can learn how to apply Gods word to the way we live. Our young people also have the chance to put Gods love into action in the local community with lots of outreach and social action projects in Derby and the surrounding area. There are also loads of opportunities to relax and make new friends in the cafés, through the sports programmes or at live gigs in the evenings. Contact: Claire Brown, 01332 571760
