Peak District National Park
Dark Peak 3D Viewpoints: Upper Derwent Valley

Red Spots are VIEWS : "W" Symbols are Walks

This is the upper end of the Upper Derwent Valley. Howden dam and Edges: Margery Hill and the start of the River Derwent.

The view here is oblique looking into the upper end of the Upper Derwent Valley as though the viewer were hovering over the high moors at the top of the high moors at a height of about 5,500ft. The Howden edges t the lft, circling the watershed to the source of the Derwent (middle right). At slippery stones is the reconstructed bridge moved and rebuilt stone by stone after the flooding of the Derwent valley and village. These higher moors are quite desolate and have fewer visitors and walkers due to the time (and effort) it takes to reach them.
