The South East Area Luncheon 2004 - organised by Area 13 - was held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, on Saturday March 20th. This highly successful event raised in excess of £3,800 for the Sickle Cell Society.  A big thank you to all the Circles in Area 13 who supported this event, and thanks also to the companies that sponsored us (see below).  Not forgetting of course the 300 ladies who bought tickets and attended!

The president of the Sickle Cell Society, Sherlene Rudder MBE, gave a speech explaining about Sickle Cell, and the work carried out by the Sickle Cell Society.  The star of the day was of course our guest speaker, Kwame Kwei-Armah, who some of you may know better as Findlay Newton from Casualty, or perhaps you saw him in Fame Academy.  Kwame amazed us all with his wit and charm, and even sang for us :-)

The Menu was:
A Mild Goat Cheese Terrine with Aubergine Caviar

Fillets of Salmon Trout with Strips of Vegetables and a St Veran Chive Sauce
Or
Filo Pastry Tulip with Oriental Stir fried Vegetables in a Lime and Ginger Sauce with Basmati Rice
with
Parsley New Potatoes
Asparagus Tips, Turned Carrots and Baby Corn

Lemon Parfait encased in a Dark Chocolate Cup and served with Raspberries
Coffee
Chocolate Candied Orange Peel

Dress Code: Smart daywear, Hats optional
