Son of William Mossop, and Elizabeth, baptised 5/8/1860.
George and his brother John were said to have carved a stone lion (couchant) which was in a wall at Nether Wasdale. MHB remembers seeing it on the end of a garden wall. When he enquired about it in the village (1999) he was told that someone had attempted to steal it and it had been moved to a safe place some distance away. No more details were forthcoming!
George was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church.
He emigrated to Canada (perhaps Toronto?) and lived to an age of about 80 years.
He had at least one daughter, called Florence.
