George Herbert Balshaw, 1865-1932

Born.

24th July 1865 at 1 Prince of Wales Road, Haverstock Hill, Kentish Town, Middlesex, son of Revd. Robert Balshaw and Mary Anne.  His birth was originally registered under the name "Mark Balshaw", but the names "George Herbert" were "entered after registration".  He therefore appears twice in the indexes of births, Sept quarter 1865, St Pancras, 1b 170. Have certificate.  Initially I thought they were twins.

Occupation.

In the 1881 census he appears as a scholar at the Wesleyan College in Charlcombe, Somerset, age 15.

In the 1901 census he appears as Herbur Balshaw, born London, aged 35.  He was living in Whitley, Northumberland and working as a "Cabiner Salesman" (no doubt poorly transcribed as much of the rest of the census!)

Married

A George Herbert Balshaw was married in the first quarter of 1888, Newcastle upon Tyne. Further details not known.

Died.

George H Balshaw died in the September quarter of 1932, age 68, Newcastle upon Tyne (10b 97).
