Some notes about Liverpool

Imperial gazeteer, 1855 - Details about Liverpool

The first wet dock was built in 1709, (the first in the kingdom).

The population of Liverpool grew at approximately the same rate as that of England and Wales during the 1700s. However, during the period from 1800 to 1850 it grew 2.5 times faster than the average. This suggests that many people must have moved there from the surrounding areas.
