Along with many of my group, I was graced with an invitation to attend this important event, held at the Tower of the Violet Mage set on the banks of Loch Tay in Caledonia. We were troubled by the news that there had been some great misfortune concerning the upper echelons of our faction (The Wolves) and sought to find the facts of the matter, in addition to our guild related agendas.
The face of The Weaponsmith was seen amongst those arriving, which is presumably why so many people chose not to bring many of their arms into the Great Hall, as they sure wished not to be seen in charge of some inferior quality sword or hammer in the presence of one who knows. Perhaps they had other reasons?
Once inside, the process of informal discussion between the various attendees progressed with gusto, for longer than my have been expected. Many of the 'usual' faces were there; Schadel, Jinx, Floris, The Black and White Master Mages, joined now by Red. We were 'relieved' that Mayhem was not around, but it became clear that the creature in the ornate and very black armour was yet another of the supposed seven Chaos Warriors. He seemed to be just wondering about. The lapse in activity was broken for many by the arrival of Lady Katrina with an entourage of two creatures who had clearly spend a greater part of recent times being dead! (zombies, it was alleged) As one might expect, Schadel pointed out that he really wasn't pleased about this, wasn't that one young lady vampire (I paraphrase him) enough. Did they have invitations? And if so, why!
Soon after this the Violet Master Mage arrived and went straight to the podium where they had already cast some spell of voice enhancement. He informed Lady Katrina that he was late because he had just returned from the ritual circle at Bristol, which Floris had decided should be closed down, as the Unliving were somehow able to make use of it. Violet also had some heated discussion with Schadel, after which Schadel ...'eradicated' the zombies. Also, Master Violet spoke to us about a letter that Lord General Holbon had written to the Blue Master Mage. This letter had caused Mr McTay some displeasure and so he had withdrawn his support for the ritual which held Holbon's head on....and if Holbon's head had fallen off and he had died again well that's just too bad!
The Guild business then started.
The Grand Master of The Mages Guild formally upgraded the nameless Lieutenant of the Guard to nameless Captain of the Guard, and said some nice things about his Colour Mages. I think the Green Haired Initiates were promoted as well.
The head of the Scouts Guild informed us that the Scouts Guild was in fact to disband. However, it would be reforming immediately as the Association of Scouts, trading as The Scouts Guild. This seemed to highly entertain the tall ruffian with long blond hair (clearly a 'troublemaker'!) who was standing next to Jinx and myself.
Tel Falcon, head of the Healers, informed us that, due to the apparent use of the Ritual Circles by the Unliving, they had done some research and found that it was in fact possible for Healers to manipulate Ritual Magic to some degree. He invited any Healers who wished to train for this to contact the Guild later on.
Someone who may have represented the (ahem) Stewards Guild may have spoken but I certainly can't remember their name or what they may or may not have looked like.
Wolfgar Stone-Dreamer, in his new position as Speaker of the Sacred Council, announced mainly that he was such. He acknowledged the ongoing help of Attilla The Nun.
After the Guild agenda, various of the Factions made political statements.
Aleda, now second in command of the Wolves Faction described the horrid events which had led to the loss of the entire Command Group in some interplanar Rift in Norsca.
Lord Arcane, leader of the Cwmyrjar (damn those Celts and their strange spellings!) called upon the several new leaders of Factions to officially resign The Gathering Treaty.
Lady Katrina invited everybody to here immanent wedding to Lord Satun, Everyone except Lord Arcane, anyway, although, he didn't seem offended....
I greeted my quasi-colleague, the Master Cartographer, and unsuccessfully search for representatives of the Scribes Guild.
A number of 'incidental' ongoings occurred that evening.
