By The Indigo Mage.
Not having been to a VI event before I have nothing to compare it to, Seemed like a reasonable event, bit crowded, but then it would be in a mages tower wouldn't it. It seemed a shame that the mages guild didn't tell me - a high ranking member of this guild - that they were serving food (albeit soup) upstairs, but then again they probably did in the infamously unread letter that came with one's invite.
Things that went on. We arrived, there was much greeting of friends and enemies, Master violet had (it appears) been experimenting with potions recxently, as the results had been left on various of the tables (un labelled which prompted eveyone to avoid them). It may be known to some of you that a number of years ago (100 ish) the bears trounced the goblins in caledonia, It would appear that the United Goblin Federation took the oppurtunity og the open grand council to attempt to return the compliment, starting off by sending a goblin as an apparent guest, and then attacking one of Lord Blundells Guards with a poisoned blade. this was followed by further attacks sporadically through the night some of which were wearing a strange amulet created by their shamen, which caused the dead bodies of the slain to rise once more and continue their fight.
At half past 9 of the sundial The Violet Intorduced the first of the faction representatives who whished to say a few words to those assembled.
They were (in order)
1) Sir Timothy de Wilfsbane of the Gryphons (who denounced the viscious and cowardly attacks on the Gryphons, and asked for Lord Arcanes head, in exchange for which there would be peace)
2) Lord Arcane of the Dragons (who pointed out that he had offered meeting on many occasions to negociate peace, and also that the Gryphons had food and money whilst others starved in poverty around him, He also announced the birth of his child - a daughter I think - and he thanked all the factions for an honourable battle at the gathering - even though he was on the losing side - he also asked everyone present to not follow either Mordred or the pendragon, but to show self determination, and lastly he asked for the return of the sword of alliance, anyone with details contact Lord Arcane c/o The Dragon Faction, Erin presumably.)
3) Hugo of the Hearts representing Lady Tarragon who was detained on matters of state (who asked that peace come to the land, he also explained that as they had won - not a great victory as the lions were outnumbered - but nontheless a definite victory, the Lions were to be banished to Avalon forever)
4) Matron Mother Saravay of house Gereshen for the Tarantulas (apologies if I spelt it or got it wrong, I missed your name when announced, and have guessed by hindsight) (who went through each of the factions and spoke of them with greater or lesser admiration - as is their wont - depending upon the sex of who is ruling the faction although the wolves got kudos as their representative was the second in command "Aleda")
5) Lord Ordos of the Legion from the Vipers representing King Gustav who was detained on matters of state (who thanked his noble allies on the battlefield at the gathering on behalf of King Gustav)
6) Lord Ceaduraed of the Unicorns (who mentioned the auction and parliment to be held in the next couple of weeks I think, and warned people against attempting to do nasty things to the unicorns)
7) Aleda of the Wolves representing Lord Thorvald who was detained on matters of state (whose speach I completely missed as I was being spoken to by a strange drow with an uncanny resemblence to Mayhem without his armour - Sorry Aleda)
8) One of the Morrigan of the Bears (who announced that her period of mourning was over and she is now looking for a new husband - suitors step right up, she also asked for peace to reign in the land, and was interrupted by a Chaos minion of Mordred who attacked the drow hiding on the balcony)
9) Wraith of the Bears then spoke, and complained that the weaponsmiths guild was charging far too much for silver and master crafted weapons in support of this he then brought up someone else whose name I completely missed, who said a great deal without saying anything constructive.
10) in Response to this the Violet mage brought forth a Weaponsmiths Guild Representative (the second in command I believe) who pointed out that the prices were in fact fair, as the guild had to make a living out of it, and silver is expensive.
11) Tel Falcon of the Healers Guild Spoke thanking all who attended for something which I missed
Then the Chaos thingy attacked again and I beleive was duly dispatched. One of the mage guild guards turned into a werewolf and ran off (chased by most of the rest so that they could bring him back on a charge of dereliction of duty. Several people were attacked by undead, including Lord Ceadured who received a fatal wound but was healed by Tel Falcon (I guess)
Oh yes lady Katrina was there and showed to everyone, although she said something about baron Lachlann's wife's children not being his, because he was not himself or something
Later on during the evening the Chaos Minion returned and caused much chaos, and handed out some more of those chaos stars (one of which adhered to flesh, and one of which seemed to have no visiable effect unless you have sense magic in which case it caused the person to glow visibly)
The Bears seranading team where in full voice (we're the boys from the west country)
I heard that there may be another rift, possibly in Albion.
Oh the quizes, these were a long questionaire from both the scouts guild, and the Grandmaster whose prizes were respectivly a bag of gold, and the enchantment of any one item, and a set of strange paper squares which when assembled correctly formed an image from Master Violet, who would grant one favour or boon to the winner. As far as I know only Connal & Fire handed in answers to the first two, and I don't know about the third.
I'm sure that there was lots of other things going on, but I didn't see or hear them. Anyway thanks to master mage Violet for hosting an interesting evening.
